What are the advantages of diesel engines?

A diesel engine is an internal combustion engine that works by injecting diesel fuel into a combustion chamber and igniting it through compression. Compared to gasoline engines, diesel engines have many unique advantages, as follows:
1. High Efficiency: Diesel engines have high thermal efficiency, converting more fuel into effective power, thus providing higher fuel efficiency. In contrast, the thermal efficiency of diesel engines is generally 15% to 20% higher than that of gasoline engines.
2. Powerful Torque Output: Diesel engines typically have a higher compression ratio, which can produce greater torque output. This makes diesel engines more advantageous when starting, climbing hills, or towing heavy loads.
3. Long Lifespan: Due to their more robust and durable construction, diesel engines generally have a longer lifespan than gasoline engines. This is attributed to the use of heavier components inside the diesel engine, such as connecting rods and crankshafts.
4. High Temperature Resistance: Diesel fuel has a higher ignition temperature, so diesel engines can operate at higher temperatures without overheating. This allows diesel engines to adapt to a wider range of operating conditions, making them particularly suitable for heavy machinery, trucks, and ships.
5. Lower Explosion Risk: Diesel fuel has a higher ignition temperature; in contrast, gasoline fuel is easily ignited at lower temperatures. This means that diesel engines are relatively safer and less prone to explosions.
6. More Environmentally Friendly: The exhaust gases produced when a diesel engine burns diesel fuel contain less hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, resulting in lower exhaust emissions from diesel engines. In addition, diesel engines typically use technologies such as particulate filters and urea solution injectors to reduce emissions.
7. Multiple Fuel Options: Compared to gasoline engines, diesel engines can use a wider variety of fuels, including biodiesel, synthetic diesel, and diesel additives.
