What are the differences between diesel and gasoline engines?

  1. Differences between diesel and gasoline engines: The ignition methods differ. Gasoline engines mix gasoline vapor and air in the cylinder, compress the mixture, and then ignite it with a spark plug. Diesel engines mix atomized diesel fuel injected by a nozzle with air, compress the mixture, and the high temperature from compression automatically ignites it.

Due to these characteristics, diesel engines achieve 30% better fuel economy than gasoline engines. This means that under the same driving conditions, if a gasoline car consumes 10L of fuel, a diesel car would consume around 7L.
